overcome evil

Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. Romans 12:17‭, ‬21 NLT

When wrong is done to us, perhaps when a person cuts you off in traffic or takes the last bag of toilet paper (pandemic joke), we instinctively want to yell, react or pay back the wrong.

Paul tells us that this instinct is wrong. Between the two verses above is a discussion about whether we should pay back or let God pay back. God says: vengeance is mine! That sounds rather final does 't it? It is!

It is obvious that this park is not for us to walk in. When we go there we collect demons of offence, bitterness, hatred, anger, resentment like a bunch of black balloons that will not leave is alone. Touch one of them and the rest follow, like sticky paper you are unable to remove them easily.

God is not likewise affected. This is why He says: "leave it to Me!" Also, He repays well. Trust me, He has for me. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:31).
