a new temple

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place. For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy—a place where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart. 2 Chronicles 7:14‭-‬16 NLT

Solomon had just built the temple his father had desired to build for the Lord. The centre of worship was this temple, and the Lord had agreed to fill it with His presence. We know it was eventually destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar. Thr people had strayed from the Lord but continued to offer sacrifices, reducing the Lord to a god similar to the foreign gods. God was not pleased, and determined to shake things up. The people had not humbled themselves and prayed.

With Jesus another temple was instituted, no longer would a building house the presence of God, but rather every believer would now become that temple.

Now God inhabits tenples of flesh. Unfortunately, again, mankind has attempted to reduce God to the same dimensions as their newfound gods of pleasure,  money, and self-indulgence. It will not work. The scripture above tells us what works: humility and prayer.

May we find our path to Him again! Amen!
