the Holy Spirit and prayer

“Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This is not a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your little boy asks for a serving of fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? If your little girl asks for an egg, do you trick her with a spider? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing—you’re at least decent to your own children. And don’t you think the Father who conceived you in love will give the Holy Spirit when you ask him?”
Luke 11:10‭-‬13 MSG

It is interesting that in response to a request by the disciples on a lesson in how to pray that the Lord uses an illustration about determination in receiving a response, and then ends the discourse on saying: how much more will the Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.

What does the Holy Spirit have to do with the lesson? If we understand that Luke focuses a lot on the Holy Spirit, perhaps we could see the relationship. Also, we need to consider the Holy Spirit's involvement in prayer. Elsewhere scripture tells us that the Holy Spirit prays with groanings deeply on our behalf. This indicates praying in the Spirit. (Romans 8:26,27)

This is definitely a meditative point. Chew on that!
