prince of peace

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 NLT

It seems odd to say there is a prince of peace, in a time when it rarely exists. Yet, is it real? Jesus spoke to this in John 14:27:
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid".

What is this peace? Can I be at peace when all around me is in turmoil? Yes! Just as I can have joy in a joyless environment. So, how can this be?

Mary asked the same question of Gabriel when he told her she would have a son. Mary was a virgin. Virgins knew only one way to fall pregnant, mate with a male.

Bsck to peace. It seems God works outside the square. He delights in taking what is not and creating a new thing. He took dirt and created Adam, He overpowered the sea to part it for people to walk through.

Today we celebrate the prince of peace. To discover this peace: invite Him into your hearts, ask Him to cleanse you of all your wrong and see if peace has not come! I am sure you will find it! Happy Christmas!
