using people

You can be sure that using people or religion or things just for what you can get out of them—the usual variations on idolatry—will get you nowhere, and certainly nowhere near the kingdom of Christ, the kingdom of God.
Ephesians 5:5 MSG

This verse is an eye-opener. Using people for what we want, it says, is a variation of idolatry. This makes us examine our motives. Why do I want to know that person? Is it to take advantage of them? Is it to please myself?

I think we need to let this challenge go all the way to the bank today. Chew on it, throw it around in your awareness. Are you wanting something? Or are you wanting to give? We can use this litmus test on all our connections. Amen!
