the cross
Now the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will personally restore, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little. 1 Peter 5:10 HCSB

Peter addresses suffering in chapters 4 and 5, encouraging his readers that the suffering they experience enables them to partake in the sufferings of Christ. He also exhorts them not to suffer for wrongdoing, as this would be an affront to their witness.
Why do we suffer? We suffer in many ways, some of our own foolishness but some because we are Christians. There are many faithful who suffer greatly because of their faith. These are the saints who need our prayers, our voice, and our financial support.
Many westeen Christians are only beginning to have a taste of persecution with their freedom to speak freely about Christ being eroded. The biblical basis of objection to ungodly behaviour is no longer acceptable. The bible is considered hate speech and those who speak it must be haters, when in fact they are the ones who actually love the unlovely.
If all the Christians were removed, the world would progressively become a black place full of selfishness. The church charities would not longer exist, and those who fail in society would probably resort to suicide as no one would show compassion.
Rather than living for ourselves, we the church need to accept our call, and desist the pursuit of worldliness and embrace the fullness of the gospel. Our God is able to care for us. Amen!
