trusting the no
My purpose in writing is simply this: that you who believe in God’s Son will know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life, the reality and not the illusion. And how bold and free we then become in his presence, freely asking according to his will, sure that he’s listening. And if we’re confident that he’s listening, we know that what we’ve asked for is as good as ours.

When my children were teenagers, they usually knew before they asked what the answer would be. Manipulation was always a try, but the eventuality would be according to the principles we had lived by.
However, that did not stop my son trying to convince us why we should fund him into an expensive and very fast motorbike at 19. We stuck to our resolve and he, very annoyed, determined to find another way. He managed to convince a funder to lend him all the money. Within a short space of time he was booked speeding and lost his licence for 12months. This meant he had to ride a bicycle to see clients, a very humbling experience. Whist it made him physically fit, God was dealing with his heart. He tried to sell the bike and noone was interested. He went through pain and suffering because of his sin. Needless to say he learnt a valuable lesson.
My eldest grandson now wants a motorbike. Guess who is standing in the way, with learned wisdom? Fortunately my grandson is only 15 and has a few years to wait, and he is more responsible (I hope).
There are prayers that are not answered, because they are foolish, selfish and downright dangerous. Trust God with the No!
