my words

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord , my rock and my redeemer. Psalms 19:14 NLT

I have found that, at times, my words are to sing my praises, and seek accolades from others. As soon as I speak I am convicted of my sin. The same applies when I complain about the behaviour of others, I am convicted.

The last happened yesterday. I had planned a meal and invited a guest who, left it too late to let me know he did not eat beef. I was miffed. I then complained to a friend and fortunately he put me right. I then repented and asked the Lord for a more gracious attitude. Fortunately God is good, and I received grace.

It was important that I repent as this young man was a new believer I needed to teach more about the Lord. As it was he enjoyed the meal I prepared and we had good fellowship. Without repentance I would have been useless to the Lord.

How much time do we spend in uselessville because of pride or offence? The Lord is not near because of our sinful attitude. Only repentance can bring us back. Repentance is like having a spiritual shower with a Karcher (high pressure hose). We are left completely clean. Amen!
