endurance

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

I don't know anyone who likes pain, yet pain is necessary to grow muscle, grow up, grow character. Character is what this verse is about.

Hebrews tells us that we need endurance so that we might proove the will of the Father and receive what has been promised. Hebrews 10:36. What is the will of the Father? That sons and daughters of His been shown and seen as His representatives, that the world might know Him.

Endurance does produce a reward. Every athelete who endures has a chance to win a gold medal and be honoured above their peers. Our medal comes from the Father, we will receive a crown of righteousness.

Endure!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
