impressing God
But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Matthew 6:6 HCSB

Each of us does things to impress others. We do this by how we dress, the way we do our hair, the car we drive, the house we live in.
Yet, when it comes to God, He is not impressed with the outward, but rather the inward parts of us.
What is our heart's desire before Him. Do we, like David, long to be in His presence? Or are we attempting to manipulate Him for our own ends?
The above scipture tells us how to pray. These are Jesus' words. In His earthly life He always went off by Himself to a quiet place, He did not have His own home, or the luxury to shut the door behind Him. As I live alone I can sit on the couch, with my dog and look out into the changing sky. Amazing!
We are called to commune with our Father. Jesus gave us the Lord's prayer as a type of prayer to pray. If we think about it, meditatively, we will find a reverence that is required.
