serving others
Instead, he gave up his divine privileges ; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Philippians 2:7-8 NLT

Choosing the life of a servant is rare in human circles, more often it is the only option. Always there is a buring desire to do better. Yet Jesus gave up His very high postion, a position that involved Him as a creator, and designer of life.
Many new Australians come to our shores with qualifications of engineers, dentists, doctors etc but are forced to take menial, low paid work because employers continue to look for white people. I have a friend who did a masters in accountany at uni here, and is a trolley collection boy at Coles. The reason for this is he cannot break into the exclusive market of accountancy, yet, anyway.
However, there are many Australian-born white folk who will not consider menial labour. It is beneath them.
Yet, Jesus chose a menial, humble life to be born into. He started life in a stable and then lived, being chased by a murderous king to Egypt, only to return to Nazareth as the son of a carpenter. Jesus learned the trade of carpentry.
Jesus came to serve, and He served well. He is our example. Amen!
