testing and winning

13 We all experience times of testing, which is normal for every human being. But God will be faithful to you. He will screen and filter the severity, nature, and timing of every test or trial you face so that you can bear it. And each test is an opportunity to trust him more, for along with every trial God has provided for you a way of escape that will bring you out of it victoriously.

Temptation is the worst type of testing as we are tempted in areas where we have a weakness. However, when we face the temptation and overcome it, we know we are stronger. We know that tests we face in our education show us if we did absorb what we learned or whether we need to add more to our learning. As much as it is unpleasant, it is helpful. Facing temptation likewise helps us assess.

Every one of us has a different weakness and a different makeup. If we are prone to pamper our feelings and lusts, things will be harder. However, the more inclined to discipline we are the better we will achieve.

In all areas the Holy Spirit is there to strengthen and assist. He is a good ally. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
