victory

57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! 1 Corinthians 15:57 HCSB

There is a 'but', why? Paul had just written: now the sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. (V56).

The law, given through Moses, highlighted sin so that people could recognise their separation from God. When Jesus came, He fulfilled the law. How did He do that? There is a penalty for breaking the law, the ultimate penalty is death.  Prior to Jesus animals died as sacrifices for sin. After Jesus' death this was no longer needed. Praise Him!

This chapter is an interesting one, it talk about being changed in an instant  when Jesus returns. Paul addresses the Corinthians to remind them of the gospel he had preached to them. He then addresses false teaching about the resurrection from the dead. He culminates with the above scripture and urging the Corinthians to be steadfast, immoveable in their faith.

We need to be faithful to the whole gospel. Amen!
