15 Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.

Today I received an email from a friend who is studying an Indian language so that he can go to India as a missionary. He was describing the battle he constantly has in learning the language. There is also a woman in our church at uni in Western Sydney learning Arabic so that she can go to Egypt as a missionary. I have an Arabic speaking man in my uni class and he tells of the difficulties present in the Arabic language. I can imagine she is also being stretched. My friend Bruce said he must diligently apply himself daily or he slips back. I would agree with him.

As a Christian we cannot take a holiday from following Christ. What we read, watch and do are important in maintaining our spirits.

We have to present outselves to God. What would He say if He turned up right now in your life? Would He say "well done!" Or would He say, "Why did you not believe?"

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
