my shield

You are my shelter and my shield; I put my hope in Your word. Psalms 119:114 HCSB

Knowing I need a shelter and shield is important, thinking I can go alone is foolish. If I spend too much time in fleshly pursuits, I will become arrogant of soul and think I am doing fine, when in fact I am walking on a knife's edge. Recognising the knife 's edge is wise, so is going back to shelter (or abiding).

Romans 7:18,19 tells it like it is:
For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it. For I do not do the good that I want to do, but I practice the evil that I do not want to do.

So, what is the answer? I'm glad you asked:
What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this dying body? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I myself am a slave to the law of God, but with my flesh, to the law of sin.

Jesus is my only saviour,  it is not my own goodness. He is my righteousness. Amen!
