it pleased Him

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory, honor, and power, for you created all things, and for your pleasure they were created and exist.”

We might sing these words, however this is the song sung in heaven by 24 elders who sit on thrones around the throne room surrounding the Lord. There are four living beasts before the throne and they say: "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was, who is, and who is coming." At this the elders throw down their crowns and worship the Lord and respond with the above scripture.

We might like to contain the Lord and keep Him on the shelf, or near our bible, and bring Him out once, maybe twice a day. The above picture is one where God rules. We were created for His pleasure, not vice versa.

We have children for our pleasure. In childhood they are dependant on us. As they mature, they leave home and go their own way. Sometimes that way is far away from us, sometimes it is close. Yet we still had them for our pleasure.

Although our children may come to despise us or not give us the honour due, we are still the ones who gave them life. No matter what we think of God, it was His created design that allowed us to live and give life. We are His. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
