Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live. Everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die — ever. Do you believe this? ”John 11:25‭-‬26 HCSB

Jesus was speaking these words to his good friend Martha as He arrives to find Martha's brother dead in a tomb. He was about to raise Lazarus from the dead and was establishing Martha's faith. Martha's responds with: "Yes Lord," she told Him,  " I believe You are the Messiah, the Son of God, who comes into the world." However, previously Martha had chided Jesus for being late with, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother wouldn't have died. Yet even now I know that whatever You ask from God, God will give You."

Next Martha's sister Mary came and the conversation was similar. Jesus became angry in spirit and deeply moved. He asked where they had placed Lazarus. When there He commanded them to remove the stone. Their response indicated that they did not believe: "Lord He is already decaying, its been four days."

Jesus had waited four days before going to His friends so that when He did go, all would know a miracle had been performed. Has God waited long past the death of your dream so that when He comes a miracle indeed will be proclaimed?

He is still coming! Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
