a new command

“Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.”
John 13:34‭-‬35 MSG

The other day I had a woman ask me to teach her husband to say nice things to her. Not my place, and not my desire. I said, "I am sure he has other good attributes!"

How did Jesus speak to His disciples, or even His friends? When Peter saw Jesus walking on the water and said to Him, " Lord if it is You, bid me to come!" Jesus replied, "It is I!Come!" When Peter went he walked on water and when he looked at the waves he sank. What did Jesus say? "Why did you doubt"? Now,talking to s female friend, Martha, Jesus tests her faith. He doesn't pander to her grief but challenges her faith.

Where do we get this, 'speak nice to me!' Idea? Is it our construct? It looks like it. Is this selfishness in us that demands how we should be treated?

What would the Lord say to this? I have given you a faithful husband, who provides for your needs, loves the children with you. Perhaps you need to take your eyes off yourself and praise Me for all I have given you!
