as we are

“The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind. I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.”
Jeremiah 17:9‭-‬10 MSG

I love this scripture. It makes me realise that pretence is no good. Proverbs tells us: as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.(Proverbs 23:7) Notice, ' thinks in his heart '. We are not aware of how we think in our heart, we are aware of how we think in our head. Our head can be deceived by our hearts lack of communication until it has an audience, then it is too late. This is why Jeremiah says the heart is deceitful above all else, it is!

Yet the heart is what God checks. He is saying, "I see you little sucker!" (My words) Our heart may deceive us but not God. It is in our heart that selfishness, self-righteousness, or a purity reside. Jesus said, "The pure in heart will see God". (Matt 5:8). This must be our ultimate goal. Hie word cleanses us. Jesus told His disciples, "You are already clean by the word I have spoken to you." (John 15:3). Keep in the word and pray for discernment of your heart. Amen!
