what has your focus?

If someone claims, “I know him well!” but doesn’t keep his commandments, he’s obviously a liar. His life doesn’t match his words. But the one who keeps God’s word is the person in whom we see God’s mature love. This is the only way to be sure we’re in God. Anyone who claims to be intimate with God ought to live the same kind of life Jesus lived. 1 John 2:4‭-‬6 MSG

How did Jesus live? He was focussed,  even as  young man. His parents found him after three days searching, in the temple, about His Father's business. 

How focussed are you? What are you focussed on? Are you concerned with your Father's business or the latest car, house gadget, movie, game etc? Who yanks your  chain? 

Today I went to see a Christian movie: Sabina, Tortured for Christ.  Sabina and her husband Richard were focussed on the work of the cross. If they were not saving Jews they were saving Nazis after they lost the war. There were only 10 people present. We all knew we should have done more to bring others along.

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
