abundant life

Jesus Himself said, " I have come to give you life, abundant life!" John 10:10. He also said that the thief only comes to rob, kill, and destroy. It behoves the believer to carry a discerning spirit.

I once did a spot of geocaching, a tremendous treasure hunt with my grandchildren.  I was introduced to the field by a new friend in South Australia. In it you follow an Ap. In the past map longitude and latitude specifications would be give and the treasure hunter would go searching for the hidden treasure, lots of fun. Its purpose was the use of a compass.

The Christian life is a treasure hunt for life. Life is only found in Christ. Thr paths to Him are His ways of righteousness. As in geocaching, only the determined and diligent would find the prize.

When on a path it must be measure by the holiness test.  If any darkness is found there, it is the wrong path. There is not darkness in Christ,  however the path may go through dark places. The challenge is to discern if the darkness is on the path or surrounding the path, that is the real test. As a discerning spirit grows within us we become more attuned to correct assessment of our environment.

Remember, the prize is abundant life! Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
