good deeds

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Lights are meant to be turned on. I have electric lights in my home, they are for me to be able to see when it is dark. Imagine if I never switched them on but insisted on stumbling around in the dark. All would consider me foolish, and I would be.

We, Christians, are God's lights in a dark place, we need to switch ourselves on. How? By doing good deeds. Each have a different deed to accomplish. How do we know what they are? Ask the Lord! By staying soft to things of God and turning away from fleshly lives we open our ears to Him.

I find room in my life for God's purposes as I don't panic about the load I have before me. I am in an examination period with my studies. I can lock out everything else or open my ears. I know what God would choose.  I must stay soft. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
