stay ready

You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” Luke 12:40 NLT

Being ready comes when you are anticipating something: a relationship, a financial breakthrough, a need to give to, a person to share Christ with, or the ultimate, the return of Christ.

Today could be the day. Are you ready? Jesus told a parable about the 5 wise virgins and the 5 foolish. All had been invited to a feast. 5 took extra oil with them, in case the bridegroom was late in coming; 5 neglected to do so and found the bridegroom was late and they had run out of oil. We may not understand the significance of this as we live in a time of instant. Flick the switch and the light is on. However, in our spiritual lives we can become dull to the things of God and not be ready with passion for Christ when He returns.

Jesus will return at a time not expected, so the need to stay ready is imperative. If you were being evacuated from Afghanistan, you would have had to stay ready to leave in a moment, your bags would have been packed, passport and visa in your hand. The Christian must be poised like this. Amen!
