God's anger

For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. Psalms 30:5 NLT

The Old Testament knew God's anger. They also knew it was just,  but Moses showed that man could interceed and win against God's anger.

Jesus taught: be angry but do not sin. He often was angry with the Pharisee's treatment and attitudes of those they ruled. He exhibited how to be angry, but not sin.  He did not carry His anger, but dealt with the matter by confrontation,  immediately. Then His anger was gone.

How do we perceive our God? Do we see Him as an angry God? Jesus paid the penalty of all sin, we live in a period of grace, and until the time of judgement grace abounds. However, I am sure God is distressed with some things that happen on the earth or even in our lives. The Book of Revelation paints a picture of what that justice looks like. It is not pretty.

Right now we can know God's anger is towards injustice. He will repay it. For us abundant grace abounds,  may we use it wisely! We must give an account when we stand before the Lord. We do not want to hear: begone from Me you who practice lawlessness, but rather welcome, come on in. Amen!
