be still

Are you the person who rapidly steps up to fix things? What happens when they are unfixable? Does this shatter you?
Seeing your child suffer with disease, seeing them die prematurely, watching your partner die of cancer? There are many things we cannot change, and many we should not change. Who then is the master of it all?

The book of Proverbs says: lean not on your own understanding, but in all you ways acknowledge Him (God) and He will direct your paths. This sounds nice but is actually hard when you are in agony of heart, being devastated by trauma. Thr pain can be excruciating. Why do we suffer it? Because we live in a fallen world. Where is God in it? Right beside you, waiting for you to turn to Him for comfort.

Yesterday I experienced grief at losing a long time friend. I was walking home and prayed: "God I am not going to sit in this pain, here have it". I lifted up my hands and then said: I am leaving it with you, heal me as I am moving on". I then contacted another friend and asked her to walk with me. I replaced the habit of years, and with the change am free. I learned something! God did take my pain. Praise Him!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
