comforting others
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NLT

Yesterday I attended a funeral for a woman from church. The grief in her children was patent. Our hearts were wrenched for them. The woman had two sisters who were also grief stricken. The husband was stoic, as he is not prone to showing his feelings, but I am sure they were there.
I have experienced grief, I also have lost my mother after a protracted illness, which her's was. Grief is an odd emotion that shows up when you least expect it. I am sure these dear folk will experience that.
However, I have also experienced the comfort of the Lord. I wrote out cards to extend that comfort and will be aware of their need moving forward. This morning I have been praying for them all. I know the blessed Holy Spirit is the best comforter. He has been so good to me, I am grateful!
We must allow the Holy Spirit to do what He does best, and we should also provide the arms that hold, the voices that show love and friendship. We are able to give comfort. We must do our job! Amen!
