seek truth

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5‭-‬6 NLT

I wonder when Solomon wrote this? We know he fell into idolatry from marrying foreign women. The proverb says; seek His will in all you do. Marrying is one thing we do. Perhaps there are some things we think we should do, expect we should do,  and do without consultation.  Marrying women from other countries and kingdoms to keep peace was something kings did, but God had given Solomon peace. What made him take this path?

Was this an inherited sin from his father David who married several women, all Jewish I believe but not without sin. He took Bathsheba, a married woman, and killed her husband to make his theft right.

When we believe we are taking the right path in relationships, but do not consult the Lord, we can find ourselves in error. Is ending our days away from God worth the sin? Is all eternity separated from God or having less than a close relationship with Him worth the sin of momentary pleasure? No!

The fruits of the spirit contain self-control. We would do well to seek it, and in the process seeking truth about the path ahead! Amen!
