do not neglect goodness

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:24‭-‬25 NLT

Having a heart open to the promptings of the Lord is having a soft heart. To have a soft heart we must remove all layers of hardness.

What causes the hardness? James tells us it is the deceitfulness of sin.  How does that get there? Allowing our soul to be dominated by sinful platforms: the eyes and the ears are the gates to the soul, and the soul is the gate to the heart.

If we have built up a defence of our watching worldly TV series, or listening to worldly music, we may need to examine our appetities. Just as our bodies can become obese by eating empty calorie foods, so does our soul become cluttered by consuming worldly lusts.

If we are serious about being a follower of Christ, then we need to be serious about our faithfulness to goodness.

Remember, Jesus warned about those who say to Him: "Lord, Lord we did this in your name", and He said, "I will say to them, depart from me, you who practice lawlessness".

We deceive ourselves if we decide, in our God complex, our level of goodness is enough. Where do you want to spend eternity?
