loving the unlovely

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. John 13:34 NLT

It is easy to love those who are like us, who think like us, behave like us. However, there are those who are not like us, who do not think like, us and in fact may oppose us.

Last night I attended a committee meeting for our astronomy club. As someone who regularly caters for the food at various events we hold,  I wanted to give Input on a new kitchen we were installing. The committee are all male and their focus is elsewhere. The kitchen is somewhere they can warm up their meat pies and get a drink from the fridge. You might say their interest was not my interest. I could see what they could not see, and were not interested in. You might say I had opposition. Falling out with these men will not serve the purposes of God.

Always, what is God doing in us, and wanting to do through us? He is interested in us being like Him, representing Him.

Keep it sweet! Love even when it hurts. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
