And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
1 John 5:14 NLT

When my children were small this was my attitude also. If my children we asking for things I knew were good for them, I would respond with a "Yes!" However, if they were being selfish and wanting what would encourage selfishness, I would decline their request.

Our heavenly Father is the same.  Requests that bring Him glory and us closer are heard and acted on. Requests that are selfishly motivated fail to make progress. However, there are requests that the Lord wants to honour, but also wants us to develop  character in our asking, and so their is a time lag.

We need to discern what our requests will create and pray with insight and selflessness. Amen!
