peace be to you

Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”John 20:21 NLT

The disciples were struggling with Jesus' death,  but now, suddenly, He is back. What's more is He now appears without knocking or announcing Himself at the door. Emotionally this would be disturbing, yet delightful. We know how disturbing it is when we read further that Thomas was not present when Jesus came and when told about it, he refused to believe. He said, 'unless I see the marks on His hands and feet and put my hand in His side,  I will not believe'. He had to eat his words as Jesus came again, just for him.

In emotional turmoil we need Jesus. He is our peace.  As He offered peace to His disciples, He offers it to us. We have much causing us to be in turmoil over at present. Disease is rampant, costs of living sky-rocketing, and our leaders are godless men and women who have lost the plot.

Yet, into all this Jesus comes with His peace, His surety, His presence. He is all we can cling to. Amen!
