“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal.
Matthew 6:19 NLT
Two days ago I went with a friend to look at second hand furniture. The furniture was involved in a deceased estate. The amount of furniture and collections of spoons, teddy bears, and bric-a-brac was phenomenal. Obviously all was important to the deceased, but now they had a call to face their maker, and their children had the responsibility for discarding, and selling what was not wanted.
I came away, and sat considering my furniture and knick knacks. When my mum died all of her clothes, which she loved to collect, went to a charity. Her furniture, fortunately was sparse as she lived with me. However, her bedroom furniture is surplus.
When we die, we see how futile collecting is. Our families are all that matter, along with faithful friends. However, the most treasured relationship I have is with the Lord. I long to see Him, and spend eternity with Him. How about you?
