how do we think?

Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion.
Philippians 2:5‭-‬8 MSG

Entitlement is a mindset, however, it is opposed to the Christ's mindset, which was humble. How did we get here? Our world, in the West, has an entitlement mindset. It does not help that we are spoiled as children or taught as teenagers to fight for our rights. Most of our entertainment feeds this disposition.

What is the solution? Living the Christian life with a Christlike mindset. This is obtained by the renewing of our minds( Romans 12:1,2). Verse 1& 2 say: do not be conformed to the world,  but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. How do we renew our minds. Paul tells the Phillipians: And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8 NLT

To fix our thoughts we must choose what we see and hear. I choose to listen to Christian radio in my home instead of TV or secular radio. I have noticed a difference in my thinking. I am more joyful and loving and much happier.

Choose wisely! Amen!
