babble or beauty
When you pray, don’t babble like the idolaters, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words. Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask Him. Matthew 6:7-8 HCSB
This morning I took time to listen to Pastor Bill Johnson's Sunday message in full. I am grateful for such a saint of God who faithfully worships Jesus in the midst of pain and loss. If all he had was babble he would be lost but he gave the beauty of worship in his pain.
I have known babble. When I was a catholic this is all I knew. I did not have a relationship with Jesus so that I could pour out my heart to Him. Now that I do I am able to talk to Him as a friend, and worship Him as my Lord, with words that come from true reverence deep within.
We need to find new words in times of pain, there is deep groaning mixed with the faithful worship that trusts even in loss. This is precious to the Lord. In my aloneness I am able to mix deep groanings for family and relationship with my worship. He receives it and holds it preciously to Himself. Nothing is wasted, nothing is futile when we refuse to go to unbelief, but rather to faith and trust. Amen!
