freedom

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. Galatians 5:13 NLT

Last weekend I had responsibility for my 16 year old neice. Initially I was told she didn't want to sleep at home by herself, and all her family were away. I was also told she would spend most of her day at her home. However, it soon became apparent that my neice was not trusted to make some decisions on her own, and that it was my job to keep tabs on her.

Freedom for my neice was to stay at home by herself, under management of moi! (Me). She had not progressed to a level of maturity to make a full array of decisions on her own.

As Christians we are free from the penalty of sin, however there are certain things that the Lord keep from us until we are mature in His ways. He is a father after all. Yet, the big thing He freely gives us is cleansing from sin. There is no age restriction on that.

As we mature more is given. Our freedom does not include sinful living, well we could  choose that, but then that would be immature on our part.

He is good, we can trust Him! Amen!
