Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.
1 Corinthians 16:13 NLT
Be courageous! This is a command all throughout scripture, Old and New Testament. Courage causes us to front bullies with small stones, even when they are 9 foot tall, loud and obnoxious. David was courageous.
We can be courageous in little ways by asking dangerous questions, like when I mention church and prayer, you look away or you appear annoyed. By asking these little questions, after having showed you genuinely care, you open the way for a discussion. I just had one, and I am grateful. It resulted in me being able to pray for a dear friend who needed God.
This friend has a daughter who is struggling. Again I was brave enough to ask a dangerous question: "what has happened, what is troubling her?" WH questions are open questions (I learned this in my linguistics study-they are especially important in law). They work!
Yes/no questions do not give you detail, they frustrate you.
We have connection to the great healer of souls, let's take Him to the hurting! Amen!
