The Law and the Prophets here refer to the Old Testament writings. Which in particular it did not say. However possibly referring to the 10 commandments, because when asked which was the greatest commandment Jesus said: love the Lord you God with your whole heart, soul and mind, and love you neighbour as yourself. Matt 22:35,36. The last part is not a commandment but sums up several: do not kill, do not steal, honour your mother and father etc.
It is interesting that Jesus did this, however, it was very apt and true. If we love our neighbour as ourselves we will do for them what we would hope they would so for us.
Today I have two women in my home who were homeless. I have a new challenge before me, keep this house as a family and treat them as I would hope to be treated. This does not mean I don't address things, but do so graciously. Amen!
