finding rest

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28‭-‬29 NLT

I have watched very thin people in Nepal carry heavy burdens. Not only do porters carry physically heavy loads they also carry heavy spiritual loads. Unless the Nepali is a Christ follower they are subject to the numerous demon deities of Nepal. 

Even in Australia as I talk to individuals about Christ,  I tell them how Jesus will take their burdens, and give them peace and rest. Today I took my newest boarder for a hike up my mountain,  and told her that the catholic religion she had known created burdens, whereas knowing Jesus personally sets her free of all such burdens.

There is such a freedom in Christ from performance,  freedom to be who He sees us to be and freedom to be a blessing to others.

Take His yoke, it is protection from the yoke of the enemy of our soul. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
