Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29 NLT
A yoke is a harness put upon oxen to plow the field, traditionally there were two oxen, side by side, but in some cultures just one. Jesus is inviting us to join with Him in carrying the load. He, the experienced one will teach us the way to go.
In life we join ourselves to something, an ideology, a faith, or a lifestyle. Each carry a yoke. It is unseen but it harnesses us to it, and it binds us in some instances. Demons are spewing out so called freedom doctrines, and we foolishly take them up thinking we are our own masters. We are not. If we refuse Christ we choose another power. Only Jesus wants our eternal freedom, the rest eternal bondage.
Today we are invited to walk with Jesus. He is the life, the way, and the truth. Why would we choose a dark option?
