“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.” John 13:34 NLT
The most loving deed we can do for others is to give up our desired outcome for their good. Who knows what the young man Jesus would have liked to have been, apart from our saviour. Did He have desires to rule? The gospels indicate otherwise. Did He want to be just a carpenter like His dad? There are no indications He did. Did He want to live what He saw His Father in heaven do? Yes!
If we aspire to our heavenly Father’s likeness, then we do well. As we learn what that looks like, we discover it is loving and willing to forgive, however, He is also pure and holy, and lives only for what is pure and holy. This is the part we do not get, yet. If we did we would grasp the full measure of love for others.
God’s love is not offended by others, yes He is jealous for their love, but Jesus covered the misdeeds and sin as we learn to walk as He walked. He is good! Amen!
