A chance to grow

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.”James‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This morning I gave two people insightful common sense responses to things troubling them. Both appreciate me for my level headed common sense. However, on reflection, it was not always so.

As a young mother I was an emotional wreck. However, these past 20 years has taught me to go to the Lord, rely on His word, have faith and trust Him to provide. I am grateful for the working of God in my life.

I had to go and collect some skin care cream from my provider, a lovely 84 year old woman who still cares for he disabled son and husband. She is a fiesty , wiry little lady, smaller than me. She has a generous heart and also is practical and determined in her life. I have known this lady since 1994 or thereabouts. Her son caught a virus in South America and it affected his brain. He has been disabled ever since and this woman and her husband have cared for him. They are faithfulness to the max.

I know all of us have grown through our difficulties and know we are better people because of it. It sure beats self pity and depression!
