flesh and spirit

That is why the Lord says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.
Joel 2:12‭-‬13 NLT

God's people continuously rebelled and went their own way. He promised a new spirit and the Christian has this. It is important that we care for this spirit and do not walk in the flesh,  if we do not care for our spirits we run the risk of slipping away into the flesh and never seeing our God-given abilities flourish.

The spirit is where there is life. The flesh follows its lusts for fun, debauchery and corruption.  This is our biggest challenge. The flesh thinks it is life but it ends in death, death to the spirit.

Paul, in Romans 8 spells out the differences between the flesh and the spirit. May we seek the life-giving spirit. Amen!
