“Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.”Philippians 2:7-8 NLT
Humility allowed Jesus to complete His mission. He agonised over the final act, He knew it would be painful and that He could not use His power to stop it. However, one of the very temptations Jesus faced at the beginning: throwing Himself from the temple so that a legion of angels would pick Him up, He refused and replied, “it is written, you shall not tempt the Lord Your God”!
We will be tempted to use what God has given us to use in the service of His Kingdom, for ourselves or to arrogantly appear powerful and gain glory for ourselves. All glory and all honour belongs to the Lord!
Today I met my Wycliffe representative and told her I would really like to serve in Cairns. I went there last year in December and loved it. The role available there begins this December, so, from September to beginning of December I can do some sociolinguistic work in the territory or wherever needed. I am loving that all things are coming together. Uni refuses to allow me to do a research year, a fact that does not bother me. It looks like uni is finished and now I can enjoy serving. Ooh! How good is God!
