“For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” says the Lord, who has mercy on you.”Isaiah 54:10 NLT
This chapter goes on to say:
“If any nation comes to fight you, it is not because I sent them. Whoever attacks you will go down in defeat. “I have created the blacksmith who fans the coals beneath the forge and makes the weapons of destruction. And I have created the armies that destroy. But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!”
Isaiah 54:15-17 NLT
As we watch the war in Israel we could say: these scriptures apply to them. However, this was written well before the Roman invasion and the destruction that occurred then. Matthew Henry believes it speaks about the church of Christ. What then does it mean? Can we take these scriptures to heart for us who believe in Christ and deny Israel access to them? No!
My prayers are for Israel’s protection and trust for the church also. The church is experiencing great growth but also great persecution, greater than ever before. God did not send this persecution, the enemy of the cross did. Can we assume the enemy of God’s people also sent the current attack on Israel? Yes! I can believe that.
I pray for both! Amen!
