The Holy Spirit

“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”John‬ ‭14‬:‭26‬ ‭NLT‬‬

John the Baptist testified that God had given Jesus the Spirit without measure (John 3:34), in other words He was full of the Holy Spirit. This happened at His baptism. John also testified that He saw the Spirit descend on Jesus like a dove (John 1:32). God the Father also showed up and said, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased” (Matt 3:17).

The Spirit drove Jesus into the wilderness for 40 days (Mark 1:12),  in which time He fasted, seeking God. Satan came to tempt Him and failed. Then Jesus returned and entered His ministry.

In the above scripture Jesus told His disciples to wait and pray for He was sending the Holy Spirit to them. This He did on Pentecost Sunday. They went from being a fearful bunch of believers to being bold proclaimers of the Gospel. The Spirit makes us bold.

The Holy Spirit also teaches us and reminds us of all Jesus has done and said. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a must so that we can go and live for Him and spread the good news about the gospel. Amen!
