This whole chapter is about the restoration of a Jerusalem and Israel. When deep darkness covers the earth Jerusalem alone with be a light. Nations who provicously fought against Israel will now serve. Those who still fight against Israel wirh be destroyed.
The chapter is full of promise. As we watch the current war in Israel and Palestine we can see scripture being fulfilled. Ezekiel 38 speaks of various nations fighting against Israel and losing, not because of Israel’s might but Gods. Russia and Iran are implicated in this war. Iran more definitely. I read somewhere that Russia is dragged into the war reluctantly. It is busy with war with Ukraine at present and although it has a relationship with Iran it very definitely chooses its own path. There is a lot of speculation as to what would cause Russia to move against Israel. God only knows the reasoning and timing of all things.
We need to pray for Israel and uphold her before the Lord. May His kingdom come, His will be done! Amen!
