Facing the truth

“Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.”1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Perfect love also enables us to correctly fear the Lord. This is a healthy respect for Him and His ways.

Today I went to the electrical shop where I bought a washing machine and discovered it did not have a pump but rather a hose for water to drain out at the bottom. As this would not work in my future flat I went to exchange it. The manager asked if I had used it, I had not, but discovered that my friend who is currently in the flat I hope to inhabit had used it to see if it would be what he wanted. I wanted to tell the manager this fact but my friend wanted it covered. I wrote to my young Nepali friend who had helped me purchase it and asked him to call the manager and tell him the truth. He agreed with my friend that it was not a huge problem and was disinclined to call the manager.

I discussed the matter with another friend and he advised me to ask my future flatmate to assist me when I have a lesson tomorrow. This I will do. I do not want God’s people to have a bad reputation. It is obvious that the machine has been used as there was water in the outlet pipe.

Being afraid of having a refusal to exchange caused me to hesitate, and wanting my friend to volunteer his involvement caused me to be involved in a lie. This is wrong and I will wear the consequences tomorrow. Trusting the Lord is far better than covering sin. Amen!
