“fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”Hebrews 12:2 NIV
There was great shame attached to crucifixion, the worst of worst criminals suffered this fate. Yet, the righteous Son of God was crucified as a criminal. His only crime: He made the religious leaders jealous, they hated Him for His freedom and the truth He spoke.
Whilst we have done many shameful things, in Christ we are forgiven, and made right through faith in Him and His sacrifice. He rose from the dead because the Father was pleased with His perfect sacrifice. By rising from the dead He brought us who believe into a place of freedom and honour. Shame is no longer our badge. We are invited to sit with Him in His finished work and place of highest honour.
Freedom is ours! Amen!
