We all appreciate encouraging words. They show us someone cares. Encouragement should be real, not fake. Fake words are used to gain something from us. They are a form of manipulation. You might hear people say in return, “ok, what do you want?” You also find it is often parents who retort in this manner. I wonder where children learn such behaviour?
God gives us encouraging words that are true; they speak to who He made us, and who He sees we will become. His love is different to ours, it is agape love. No strings attached other than seeing us become who we are destined to be.
Giving encouraging words requires commitment, involvement and most of all genuine concern for that person. We all long to be seen, heard and most of all appreciated. Try it! What you sow you reap! Amen!
