“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.”
Hebrews 13:8-9 NLT
When we say things are the same, generally this means things have not improved However, when we say a friend is the same, that they have not changed, this is a heartening statement. We are blessed to find the friend we remember, although they may have aged, their personality has not changed. If someone says I have not changed, I would be sad, as I believe I have grown as a Christian. However, they may be referring to my sense of fun, or even my faith.
When scripture says Jesus has not changed this is a very heartening statement. He is perfect in all His ways. Our perception of Him would changed as we grow in relationship with Him. However, the work He did for us was complete. The grace He extends to us is totally whole and enough. We do not need to add any crazy rules about regulations we must keep to receive His grace. He knew we were sinners and still He gave us His grace. His love is enough.
Do not be convinced you need to add to His grace as this is an insult to Him. His work was enough! Amen!
